I live in Costa Rica and have many friends growing coffee. My coffee bag collection tasting over 125 different coffees from most all of Central America and South America is pretty cool. My favorites are from Panama and Guatemala. Some of the best come from smaller fincas some of which are organic where they have put in drip irrigation. This years yield is down due to less rain overall and the fact that many of the bigger farms have older plants and use too many chemical fertilizers and bug/blight chemicals. You cannot rotate these crops and many of the farms have exhausted the minerals in the ground.

The supply is down but there is good coffee to be found if you know where to go.
