"I was a Democrat for years. But, Reagan said it best. "I did not leave the Democrat Party, they left me".
As the Democrat Party stands today, choosing a candidate is like trying to choose the least offensive turd in the septic tank.
I'm serious when I say that it saddens me to see what the Democrat Party has morphed into. Democracy, to me at least, is having two (or more) strong parties that compromise, to meet the needs of all.
Unfortunately, the Democrat Party has morphed into total socialism or lesser degrees of it. Countries like Venezuela, Cuba and even China have survived because capitalism is so successful that we tend to offer them support and aid. Even countries like Sweden and Denmark are moving more toward capitalism, after experimenting with an expanded welfare state, supported by their capitalism. In every instance, greater government control has reduced the prosperity of a capitalist society.
No form of government can or will eliminate poverty. It is unrealistic to even think it will. Can you imagine what many countries would be like if the United States and our capitalism, did not share with them? And we want to be more like them? We could hardly afford the proposed programs, let alone help others, if we were to start to travel that path.
