I know you're not an investor. You're just a skimmer. Oh that's right, you want the more dignified title of "trader". But that would imply what you do has something to do with trading. To me, trading would infer that you do something to actively find a buyer/seller and some how influence the price in your favor. You're not going to get me to believe that when you are "trading" the QQQ that you are in any way "finding" a buyer/seller or have any influence on the price. Your trade compared to the volume is inconsequential. You're skimming.
Now then, if you were "trading" in a more thinly traded stock, then sure, you can buy some shares and then "advertise" them for sale by putting in a sell order, and then depending on the other sell orders and how well they are selling, adjust your price up to get more or down to entice a buyer. I would consider that trading, but you probably try to avoid stocks like that since that would be like work. <vbg> Besides you might get stuck with the shares or have to sell them at a loss. And you might have to worry about those pesky valuations or news and stuff.
Skimming isn't all bad. You add liquidity to the market for those that are doing the investing thing. And you're using your knowledge of how the game is played to skim some for you.
I see your Sox managed to live to see another day. Of course if they win the series they are going to have to play the dreaded Yankees. Hm, and checking the temps, there's a heat wave in the west? It's going to be in the 80's in Montana tomorrow??? I guess that Climatology website I found that was predicting a cold wave and colder then normal this week is full of it. They were only off by about 20 degrees.
