I really do not know enough about them to comment, but I have noticed that Tom Calandra mentions them fairly often lately. This could be the reason for the rise. He seems to have quite a following and I myself am not sure what to make of him other than he does seem to have an influence over Jr miner gold stock movements. I would be careful, he did a major P&D on KRY (or so it would appear).

Is "IVN" the same as "IVAN"?

Ivanhoe Energy jumped a week ago on "rumors" of drilling for oil in China. Oil + Gold + China = Speculation. Never explored either one. Sounds like "PKN", an "energy trading" firm now trying its luck in Kazakhstan. Was an "IBD" 100 member until the Kazakh government finally took their "impending profit" claims seriously and demanded cash up front. Another stock to avoid.
