Amazon Unveils New Grounds For Impeachment In New Lawsuit [Updated With Link To Unsealed Complaint]

CNN (and many other media outlets) has a breaking story that could blow impeachment wide open!

Amazon alleged on Monday that President Donald Trump abused his position to apply "improper pressure" on Pentagon decision-makers to stop the company from winning a military contract worth billions of dollars.

In a formal protest unsealed at the US Court of Federal Claims, Amazon (AMZN) said Trump "launched repeated public and behind-the-scenes attacks" against the company in an effort to undermine its bid and hurt CEO Jeff Bezos, "his perceived political enemy" because of his ownership of The Washington Post.

The complaint calls for the Defense Department to revisit its decision to award the contract to Microsoft (MSFT). Hanging in the balance is a Pentagon procurement effort for cloud computing valued at $10 billion over 10 years.

"The stakes are high," Amazon said. "The question is whether the President of the United States should be allowed to use the budget of DoD to pursue his own personal and political ends." The White House declined to comment.

Here is a link to Amazon’s Complaint! The allegations are devastating to Trump. READ IT!

It not only has many allegations about Trump’s motive and influence, but also suggests a cover-up occurred.

29. As a result, on October 17, 2019 (after President Trump directed Secretary Esper to "look ... very closely" at the JEDI procurement), DoD set aside the concrete evidence that AWS was the technically superior provider, and instead executed a "Source Selection Decision Document" ("SSDD") that declared Microsoft the awardee of the JEDI Contract.

30. A few days later, on October 22, 2019, with the public unaware that DoD had already awarded the JEDI Contract to Microsoft, Secretary Esper-having already called for his Department to conduct a careful review of the JEDI process-announced that he was recusing himself from the JEDI source selection review in another unprecedented and bizarre attempt to rewrite the factual record and unsully a process tainted by the President's intervention. DoD's stated basis for Secretary Esper's recusal-"his adult son's employment with one of the original contract applicants [i.e., IBM]"-was questionable: not only had Secretary Esper's son been employed by IBM for more than six months before the recusal, but DoD had already eliminated IBM as a contender since April 2019, when it announced that only AWS and Microsoft were the remaining candidates for the JEDI award.

No need to rush to a vote! Time to empower an investigation of these allegations! It fits the narrative: Trump is using our government to punish his political enemies. It’s another impeachable form of abuse of power.

Impeachment needs to be slow walked into the New Year. Better to do it right, than rush it!

From the comments, an October 26 article reported:

An upcoming book on James Mattis’ tenure as secretary of Defense claims President Donald Trump told Mattis to “screw Amazon” out of a $10 billion cloud contract for the Pentagon.

The Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure, or JEDI, contract was awarded to Microsoft late Friday evening, sending shares of Microsoft stock up more than 3%.

Early in the process market leader Amazon was seen as the favorite, then President Trump said in July that he was looking into the contract after companies protested the bidding process.

So this appears to have real legs.
