Patrick's wife was sick and he didn't know his definite plans. I don't think that's what happened. Obama just wants a "centrist" to keep us on the same horrible, unhealthy past we've been on. He was supposed to "shake things up" but he learned pretty fast, the oligarchs don't want that.
