I largely agree w your sentiment insofar as we should always encourage lifestyle modification and frankly do more to encourage it (and cover nutritionist, etc.). It's the same as preventative medicine in general. Having said that you can say the same exact thing for type 2 diabetes, DAD, etc. and in reality it is what it is
It took a long time to limit cigarette advertisements, etc. and hopefully we can go up against the food industry and do the same for all the processed crap that is pushed although for the latter there are socioeconomic factors at play as well (hard to beat a 5 dollar meal at fast food)
This is going to be harder than say iodizing salt to prevent hypthyroidism or reinforcing milk with folic acid to lower neural tube birth defects, but it shouldn't be
