Markey, the DVD also allows me to watch with subtitles. I use this feature a lot as I like to understand everything the actors are saying.

And you can spread out watch time. My family and I just finished Akeelah and the Bee last night, which we started watching last Saturday.

The extra features on a DVD are also an added value, such as watching the whole movie again with directors commentary playing on top, interviews with actors, and behind the scenes footage.

I'm with you, the DVD is not going away anytime soon.

I have never downloaded a single movie
nor do I care to. If I had a huge selection
to choose from thru VOD, direct to my tv, then
I would consider it. Movies are an entertainment
product that I don't "need" that bad. Too much
free entertainment available, and much of it
will be ad supported via the various distribution
platforms. People are still buying DVDs for over
$14 and going to the Theatre.

Mar-Key You have some very valid points. Let me throw a monkey wrench into everyones thinking.

DVD's are here and now. But direct download is in the near future. Now Hollywood is losing money like the music industry did with pirating issues. People will rent the copy and save it to watch again some other time. I think we can agree on this.

Now they don't want to go the way of the music industry so they have companies developing direct download. This is the only way right now that will keep the profits in Hollywood. When Hollywood says, "We will only have movies available at the theater or by direct download." Then Wal-Mart and the video store is screwed. Point Blank. That is why Wal-Mart is screaming they will take drastic measures if they do that. What can they do? Nothing.

When this happens someone will write a song,
"Direct Downloads killed the Video Store."
Just some food for thought. Keep the DD coming, much appreciated.

Hope this helps
