MyFanKey is for downloadable content /etc - future uses?
See below
CyberKey Solutions' MyFanKey can be used with the Microsoft XBOX 360, Sony PS3, and Nintendo Wii to store game and gamer information, as well as music, movies, and pictures. The digital serial number, which is placed on each CyberKey, is designed to be utilized in the future to work with major movie, music, and game content providers as they offer downloadable content. For example, users can rent a movie or game digitally from an online source, store it on the required MyFanKey, and have 72 hours to view the movie or play the game. http://biz.yahoo.com/iw/061114/0184001.html
Good question. The problem with all of the current memory sticks is that they can be stolen, etc. easily and you have full access to whatever is on it. There are many companies that would entertain the use of a secured key. If I have an unsecured card and download movies to it, what prevents me to handing it to whomever I want.
The only problem I've ever had with these sticks are that they are not secured - now they are!
CyberKey has entered into a number of preliminary discussions with major publishers to develop a web portal vending system. The portal will offer e-books, software, videos, music and a variety of additional content for purchase, rental, or subscription basis via a CyberKey Solution.
Digital Rights Management
We will be integrating our Digital Rights Management technology as an integral part of the comprehensive solution. All content files downloaded from the internet and locally saved to a CyberKey USB Drive or other Mobile Storage Device will receive a unique eighteen digital alpha numeric CyberKey serial number watermark.
The unique CyberKey serial number is used to provide strong, two step user authentications to insure that the transaction is legal and financial legitimacy is addressed. Ensuring that all content providers are paid the appropriate fees and that their content cannot be misappropriated in any way or copied.
Consumer and Business Process
Consumers will purchase a blank CyberKey to be used for a downloaded with the selected e-book(s) or other type of media via the portal. The portals may be accessible via the web, unmanned kiosks located inside bookstores or as satellite bookstore centers in building lobbies or hallways. CyberKey anticipates receiving compensation for each CyberKey sold as well as ongoing transaction revenue based on itemized consumer purchases.
The same kiosks or web portal technology can be used to distribute computer software. The portal will enable specialty software firms to make their products readily available for sale, rent, or for free trial. The kiosks are expected to significantly increase the demand and computer user awareness of expensive specialty software for such applications as CADCAM, 3 Dimensional printing, computer simulation, publishing, video editing, high powered statistical analysis and other applications.
