#ChickenSandwichWars: only the tip of the iceberg

The new, and currently sold out, Popeyes chicken sandwich has broken the internet. The unveiling of the sandwich has caused #ChickenSandwichWars, drive thru lines from hell, and over $23 million in free advertising.

Yet Popeyes’ parent company, Restaurant Brands, is doing just fine without it. Its stock has seen a 47% jump this year to date. A strong economy, low unemployment rates, and high wages have benefited many in the restaurant industry. Not to mention the growing trend of buying experiences over things (sorry retail).

Sure, the industry as a whole is sittin’ pretty, but Restaurant Brands is an embodiment of 2019— embracing plant-based meat alternatives and utilizing sassy social media campaigns. Now, if they can only deliver my chicken sandwich using an electric car with a side of hard seltzer and CBD
