It would be outstanding if the WS did indeed confirm the SAMS deal with the President. I don't think that will happen and even if it did, the signed papers would be denied to the press so the article again would lean towards the negative.
I don't know what the laws in Canada are, but in the US, if there were articles written like that, there would be suits filed last week already. Journalism like that would not be allowed to stand unchallenged.
Freedom of the press/expression IMO is a God given right, inalienable. Freedom to distort is not part of that right no matter where in the world it takes place.
