And since it's clear that the current 'militia' in the form of national guard and reserve units IS well regulated, weapons are secured in the on site armories, then the well regulated can be reasonably inferred to apply to private purchases, sales and ownership.
The 'lab experiment' with the banning of the sale of assault weapons had favorable measurables showing a reduction in mass shooting incidents with those weapons.
That's all we're talking about here, reasonable restrictions to reduce the mayhem.
No one argues for the elimination of DUI laws because they do not prevent all DUI related injury and death.
And arguing that 'this wouldn't have prevented that' is pointless.
