Here's the kicker. The new seat doesn't use nuts.
The bottom part is a bolt you're supposed to tighten with a wrench until the bottom piece snaps off.
The part that's left is a bolt that you should be able to loosen with the same size wrench.
I'm going to use pliers. I have a set of sockets one of which would probably fit, but I must see what I'm doing to get it right.

I am not going to lie under the toilet to do this.
I'll never get out or up. Oh, 911... if I can get to my cell phone. lol

Wish I could get my hands on the twerp who came up with this brilliant idea. lol

P.S. Another many moons ago, I was taught righty tighty, lefty loosey when I helped install theatre seats at Classic Stage Company. My problem is I do not instinctively know my left from my right. Never seemed like it was that important.
