As you said, Del Mar is the track where the "Surf Meets the Turf." You can't beat the weather.

According to reports, Del Mar officials have added safety measures including having two veterinarians on site during workouts. Also, meds must be reported.

Two horsed died at Del Mar in a freak accident during early morning training.

A horse threw its rider and turned and ran back up the track, colliding with another horse. Both sustained irreparable injuries.

The thrown jockey complained of back pain.
