That is a very good question! As far as I know with the C02 super critical extraction no solvents are needed in the recovery of the C02. I believe they heat and cool the C02 to turn it from Liquid to gas and back into liquid form.
Apparently C02 becomes a solvent and can be reused. They refer to C02 as a solvent as well. But C02 solvent is a NON-Petroleum solvent. I have an article from Leafly.
