Disguising themselves as ordinary investors, attorneys with the SEC's Internet unit--the Cyberforce, as it's known--spend hours a day scouring the Internet for hot stock tips, get-rich-quick opportunities, and investments that sound too good to be true. State regulators in Illinois, California, and Texas also troll the Internet in search of fraud, while the National Association of Securities Dealers uses a proprietary software program, NetWatch, to scan the Web for scams.
