Anecdotes abound. The makers VS takers argument never goes away.
People move in and out of States because of economic opportunity, or lack of same. because of taxes that are more or less oppressive relative to benefits and.....because of climate.
It's not surprising when snowbirds....aging bones...choose to become permanent residents of AZ or FL....or NC if they like some change of seasons.
Younger people will flock in for the jobs that their STEM educations have prepared them for, and for which Chicago employers will richly reward them.
In any case, the new IL gov has already proposed new revenue sources and a vote on progressive tax reform in the '20 election.
Both of which would likely provide some tax relief to people in McHenry county, and many other areas as well.
There is no other pragmatic path toward improved solvency for the State as a whole than the above.
