It's sort of big brother but I can audit a trail of every door you tried to gain access to. It comes in handy.
I was called back to a motel where a person claimed to have 50k worth of jewelry stolen from them. One simple plug in from the lock showed the access codes with the time stamps, between us, housekeeping and the accuser.
Turns out the accuser was the only one who accessed the room, multiple times that day.
The coppers found the jewelry at a local pawn shop the next day and lo and behold it was the accuser on the film pawning their own stuff, and it turned out later that it wasn't the first time this thief played the same angle.
It also works good on the other side for shady employees too.
The consumer info is not my game, but I can see how an audit trail would be a useful tool for them. I'm in the business of protecting people, not extorting them.
