“Folks, I voted for a fence . . . Some of you won’t like it, I voted for 700 miles of fence.” The clip is from 2006, which isn’t that old, but is also a lifetime in Democratic politics. Barack Obama was against gay marriage. Kirsten Gillibrand was opposed to “amnesty for illegal immigrants” (another KFile exclusive) and was calling for increased deportations. In 2007, Gillibrand would say “you have to close the borders” in order to “right size” immigration—the same year that Senator Bernie Sanders opposed comprehensive immigration reform on the basis that “millions of people” coming into the country would “drive wages down even lower than they are now” for American citizens. https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2019/05/joe-biden-2006-vote-border-fence
Democrats would be crazy to reject Trump's DACA deal President Trump's DACA immigration offer massively expands the number of so-called Dreamers who will get amnesty and citizenship. If the Democrats accept the deal, it would intensify the rift between right wing Republicans, who are angry about the offer, and the president. Democrats are publicly blasting the proposal. Here are three reasons they should take it and run. https://www.cnbc.com/2018/01/26/trump-daca-deal-is-a-dream-come-true-for-democrats-commentary.html
