Glidden wire is of course about the only type made now. If the barbs were wrapped around just one of the two strands that would probably be what you have. The best reference is from a Texas guy, hagemeier I think his name is. Standard to most collectors is having it cut in 18 inch lengths that show several barb features. Although 6 inch pieces are sometimes traded now, they have lower value. Old splices, done in many ways by farmers back when, are also sought after.

I think you have a better chance of dying from lead poisoning then getting tied up by barb wire in Chicago.
