The point is that the popular vote means NOTHING. The Electoral College means everything.
And here is why..............
If the election was decided by the popular vote, than we would be swearing in a President Hillary Clinton.
But that’s not how it works. And — as he has said many time — if Donald Trump was campaigning for the popular vote, rather than the electoral vote, he would have campaigned much differently.
But he didn’t and Hillary’s margin of victory in that state was 4.3 million votes — or 61.5 percent
And therein lies the rub.
The purpose of the Electoral College is to prevent regional candidates from dominating national elections…
If you take California out of the total, Donald Trump won the popular vote by 1.4 million.
Is it any wonder that California Conservatives did not vote? By the time they would have, the election was already decided anyway, much like it is in many presidential elections. How California went was of no consequence, unless you consider the popular vote count.
Should the 2 most populated states control the presidency, simply because liberals are so accommodating with federal money for social programs, that are essentially bribes or purchases of a voting block? Thank goodness for the Electoral College.
Where did you get the "data" that republicans stay home because they know they will lose in california? One could more accurately make the argument that many democratic voters stay home because they know their candidate is sure to win anyway.
Many counties in california are extremely republican, particularly the rural ones. They all seem to turn out for the congressional races... in fact, Congressional District One is so violently red that it has often voted in rank carpetbaggers. McClintock got elected in the 1 a few years ago (prior to redistricting) and he had never even set foot in it, due to blind republican party loyalty. You would be better served to back up your projective bullshit with facts or else go post on the conservative fact-free boards.
