Via Denies Report That Intel Wants It to Stop Making Processors
By Theresa Tang
Nov. 17 (Bloomberg) -- Via Technologies Inc., Taiwan's biggest maker of personal-computer chipsets, denied a news report that it may spin off its microprocessor business and scale back chipset production because of pressure from client Intel Corp.
``The report isn't true,'' Richard Chang, deputy spokesman for Taipei-based Via, said in a phone interview today. ``It's purely market and media speculation.''
Do you think this is more proof that Intel is strongarming competitors, or do you believe VIA's spokesman?
