La industrialización del gas natural comenzará en el altiplano con una planta que se instalará en la población de Ayo Ayo —previo estudio de prefactibilidad— para producir 200 barriles por día (BPD) de diesel sintético a través del sistema conocido como gas to liquid (GTL, gas a líquidos).
El asesor general de Franklin Oil and Gas Bolivia, William Petty, informó de que este proyecto será lanzado hoy por el presidente Evo Morales, quien estará acompañado de las autoridades del sector energético.
Explicó que la instalación de la planta de conversión de gas a líquidos costará 13 millones de dólares y será financiada enteramente por la Franklin Oil.
“Por el momento, será una planta de GTL sólo en Ayo Ayo. Va a ser un proyecto pequeño, por eso se invertirán 13 millones de dólares. Va a ser lo que llaman una planta modular que empezará produciendo 200 barriles por día, y a medida que venga el desarrollo de la industria del gas, podremos aumentar esta cantidad”, añadió.
El proyecto también incluye la construcción de un gasoducto desde Villamontes hasta Ayo Ayo, además de otra infraestructura complementaria.
Petty sostuvo que el socio del emprendimiento será el pueblo de Ayo Ayo. “Las ganancias se repartirán a mitades, aunque aún se negocia con YPFB para ver la ganancia del Estado”, explicó el ejecutivo de la compañía de capitales estadounidenses.
De su parte, el asesor del municipio de Ayo Ayo, Javier Aguirre, dijo a la Agencia Fides que Franklin Oil viene acompañada de Promigas, Yanogas y Parque Soft, todas de Colombia, que participarán en la sociedad conjuntamente con YPFB y la Alcaldía.
El estudio de factibilidad será financiado por Franklin Oil, y demorará unos seis meses, de acuerdo con los cálculos de la compañía. Para la instalación y el tendido del gasoducto de 18 pulgadas estiman 40 meses más.
Franklin Oil también tiene previsto invertir en la construcción de una segunda planta en Santa Cruz, la cual producirá 10 mil barriles diarios de diesel oil.
