Why should anyone have to divest their private interests to be the POTUS?
UH.. so they don't profit from their decisions while in office? Ever heard of conflict of interest? BushII was a "businessman" and he went into blind trust. Is your memory that short?
Conflict of interest. Decisions that may be influenced based upon their effect on financial bottom line.
Outstanding loans that may open the loaned individual or business to losses resulting from decisions that may be in the national interest but not the individual or corporate interest.
Potential blackmail is the underlying risk for all of that.
And none of the above is an attitude rather than an a preference to the national interest over this president's personal and business interests.
There was a reason for an Emoluments Clause. And there are apparently persuasive reasons why a judge is allowing multiple law suits based upon that clause to proceed.
