Witnessed the need for an oral mucosa swish and spit today. Close relative with colorectal C. After the iv chemo burst (not as bad as many others) severe oral cold/hot sensitivity, generalized pain, some throat inflammation and gagging. The topicals/steroids help a lot (but are not preventative, just palliative, post chemo), and as the 2-week cycle went on, many of the oral symptom subsided, to a great extent. A nice preventative swish and spit would have been so helpful. This is only anecdotal (just 1 N), I know, but just witnessed the need as well as the potential market and, as noted, the Folfiri (w/o Avastin)cycle is relatively mild as chemos go. Docs would push it as would hospitals.
