In those days, I was a swing trading only and by luck I was out of the market completely by early September (I had to go to Paris for almost a month and the market scared me already in early August. By the time the August high were hit I was already only 50% in and by mid September my "too tight" stops were hit. I had only a small short position (yes, I was still shorting then...), which strangely enough, did not pay too well. I did however muster courage (and gall) and traded the volatility in the October/December period (swing trading, not day trading then, commissions were quite expensive in those days, even with "special status" <g>).
