Well,I don't know about the indexes, but lately E*Signal has flashed these types of quote spreads afterhours:

9-19-03
...............bid...........ask
MERQ...32.10 x 69.71
QLGC...24.20 x 77.94
SNDK...43.71 x 89.84
CYMI...30.30 x 63.20
KLAC...32.01 x 81.44
MSFT...18.13 x 41.80
INTC...17.50 x 40.72
NVLS...23.25 x 51.79
EBAY...30.84 x 78.97
VRTS...20.46 x 49.59
AMAT...13.23 x 27.74
CSCO...12.08 x 29.97
QCOM...26.71 x 63.47
CCMP...36.42 x 87.32
SYMC...32.37 x 94.26
AMZN...29.91 x 65.36
YHOO...24.42 x 49.99

So either the market tanks and bottoms at those bid price levels,or the bull continues and tops at those ask price levels.Using INTC just as an example, the Naz will drop 40% and bottoms at 1143.42,or the bull continues up 40% and tops at 2667.98.Time frame...mid-Aug 2004,but could be slightly sooner. Most of these momos will drop or go up at a faster rate than the Naz,so some math needed.Stuff like MERQ,SNDK,QLGC,VRTS,CCMP,QCOM could drop or rise 60-65% compared to the Naz's 40%(ex. MERQ drops to $18 or tops at $84...SNDK bottoms at $23 or tops out at $110).So set your open buys or open sells now.Simple,huh.<g>

pantmaker: Strictly a guess on my part, but....

....I would bet that the Nasdaq will reach 2200-2300 sometime between now and May 2004. Remember, though ---- that is no longer as impressive as it sounds; it is only 15-20% above current levels over the next 6 months.
