Trading ban hits RIM insiders after filing delay

TORONTO, Nov 7 (Reuters) - Canadian regulators have barred Research In Motion Ltd. executives from trading in the BlackBerry maker's shares after the company failed to file its second-quarter results on time as it reviews past stock-option grants.

The ban affects more than 60 directors, officers and other RIM insiders, including co-CEOs Jim Balsillie and Michael Lazaridis, the Ontario Securities Commission ruled on Tuesday. It will last until two business days after RIM makes the required filings with the regulator. The OSC has used bans in the past when companies have defaulted on their filing obligations.

Last month, Waterloo, Ontario-based RIM said it will file its second-quarter results as soon as possible. It added it has had been in contact with the OSC as well as the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, which has begun an informal inquiry related to RIM's voluntary review of options grants.

Earlier, RIM said it may have to restate results because of accounting errors related to past option grants. It said earnings since 1997 would be reduced by up to $45 million.

RIM shares were up C$2.79 at C$138.77 on the Toronto Stock Exchange on Tuesday afternoon.

No Guarantees Zeev, but my numbers look like SNDK should hit it's cycle bottom, the week after Thanksgiving, right around the end of the month, probably somewhere in the low 40's.
