If they try to go it alone, they'll definitely need another raise to fund a non-productive sales force.

While that could work out it's potentially a nightmare scenario. Much rather see an appropriate partnership.

This raise buys time to get through approval/label (probably) but not to attempt to market the product, as you noted.
