Personally, I do not think a wall is necessary IF--IF-there was rigorous and rapid enforcement of current laws.
Meaning that overstayed visa holders would be actively searched for and deported. Employers hiring illegal immigrants would be fined severely and repeat offenders would be jailed.
Sanctuary cities would be illegal. ETC. ETC.
Guest worker ID's should be issued--but they do not become citizens.
