New reporting reveals the Trump Organization planned to give Russian President Vladimir Putin a $50 million penthouse as part of a deal to build a skyscraper in Moscow. Reporter who broke the story, Anthony Cormier, tells Ari Melber Michael Cohen “directly asked the Kremlin” about the deal and that “we know” Trump himself knew about it. . Ari Melber breaks down why that offer could be illegal.
Cormier says Donald, Ivanka and Donald Jr. knew about the Trump Tower Moscow deal. Hard to believe they weren't aware of the penthouse offer being on the table. Re the deal Cohen was taking instructions from the president, and his two children. The mere offer of a bribe is enough to mark a felony crime. The offer must be made in an attempt to influence a corrupt act. If as a marketing ploy fine. If to encourage Putin and others to approve the construction then it's a corrupt act. It doesn't have to go to fruition. The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, which Donald hates, may come back to bite him.
