I'll be ready also, SSKILLZ1. Looking at the indices you provided as well as the few number of stocks picked that actually enjoyed gains since inception of the contest mid-May, one can gain an appreciation that the market in general did not provide advantage to investors to contest end. We are much obliged for your help in running the 8th contest.
I had an advantage or two in picking the largely off-the-radar stocks I did pick in mid-May: AMRN, CDMO(fka PPHM) and CPRX, the last the only change from previous contests. I had reasons for making no trades in this contest. All 3 stocks above are in our real-time portfolios. Amarin and CPRX each have overall bases in actual portfolios = much less than the contest entry bases of $3.15 and $2.94.
1) AMRN(and its medication Vascepa) is a company with which I had become personally familiar--I had been taking an off-label prescription of Vascepa myself since April 2013. I knew my characteristics were within the inclusion criteria of its long-running Phase 3 clinical trial(8000+ patients) initiated in 2011. I also knew my results from analyses of blood samples that I published as summary post # 117234 dating from 2016 et seq on the Amarin I-Hub message board. Thus, I was not surprised by the top-line results and many of the 30+ secondary indication results Amarin published on 9/27/2018 and 11/10/2018, respectively. Amarin closed at $18 yesterday. Links to much of above are here:
With insurance, I do co-pay for my scrip what AMRN has said above:
" commercial insurance ***{will permit payment of} as little as $9.00 for a 90-day supply prescription of Vascepa." That = $36/year.
2) CDMO changed its business plan in January 2018; new 7 member BOD and CEO appeared, beginning in late 2017. I was confident that share price would increase above contest entry basis of $3.68.
3) CPRX has been a long -time hold of ours. I knew its PDUFA date for its Phase 3 drug to treat LEMs was on or before 11/30/2018. The only mild surprise has been that CPRX actually traded negative the last 2 trading days after FDA PR granting approval was published AH on 11/28.
