That is just people taking a position that is held less then 6 months short volume and short intrest are two very different things. That shows that many investors bought in and sold old very quickly not the actual short interests which is people shorting the stock I'm a few days however we will see the actual short interest on the stock if any did exist. Even a small amount of shorts is enough to change direction and momentum of a stock
