I hear ya. I guess I'm wise beyond my years since I realized the hard work of my since I was in middle school when he would come home at night from working 12 hours and then waking up in 6 hours the next day to do it all over again.
And anytime he sees people on TV or in life that don't work and are lazy, ESPECIALLY men with families, he gets SO angry. He's a real family man in the way that you have to work hard to support your family and work hard he has.
So yeah, I've always appreciated the work. I appreciate both my dad AND mom who also is amazing. I always told my dad since I was a little kid, "Dad, when I grow up and have money I'm going to buy you that new Cadillac you've always dreamed of" and to my mom I always said, "One day I'm going to buy you a house mom, with a big yard so you can garden and grow flowers"
Now recently I say to them, when they see my staying up late working on class assignments or Homework, I tell them "I gotta work hard. After all, I'm going to be the one that brings us out of the "poor" level!" :-) And they just smile and nod... I guess they think its wishful thinking... they've become so used to their current way of life that they can't imagine having their own home and new car and that's going to change! If ever there was a promise to myself that I will keep its that I WILL buy my mom that house and my dad that car!
The looks on their faces when I accomplish these goals will be payment enough for me. To go up to my mom and my dad and hand them each a box with a key in it and me letting them know that those keys open the doors to a new car and their own home would be the best feeling in the world for me.
Heh... that felt good getting that out there. I guess I have a real reason and need for BKMP to go up. Come on BKMP, don't let me down.
