I think a certain amount of frustration builds up for people that point out obvious scams. When their information is attacked and they personally are attacked, I think over time they may decide blunt is better than soft. Certainly there is a certain amount of ego involved and no one wants to see their research besmirched, but I think to counter the wanton or innocent pumpers some amount of leeway should be allowed to those willing to make a stand against scams. Some people do truly need to be hit over the head a few times.
