SIPC has no regulatory or investigatory power and has no oversight responsibilities to our members. SIPC's mission is very narrow and limited to the liquidation of member broker-dealers. We would get notification after an acquisition occurs if it changed membership information. But we do get notification of proposed or pending acquisitions.
