No, the algos were turned on well before any mistakes were known. In fact, they attacked on the stellar GOG results and the Amgen deal. They may have continued with the attack longer and harder than planned when mistakes came to light but does that excuse them? No. If I forget to lock my door and someone robs my house it is partially my fault, but a thief is still a thief.
