I think I know why. While it is easy to update the number of shares and market cap, it is not possible to update the earnings which will result in an astronomical number if not updated correctly.
Let say if company A has X earnings.
Company B has Y earnings.
Does the merger of A & B have X + Y earnings? Not necessarily. Sometimes it is X + Y + some delta and sometimes it is X + Y - delta and the delta can be a huge number if it is a bad merger.
In the cases of WMIH and NSM, WMIH has tiny earnings or negative earnings while NSM has bigger earnings. So which earning number to use? We cannot use the sum, nor use the earning of just one company.
So I think there is no update to financial data until the next quarter earning report which will be the first joint earnings.
And I have calculated that the merger of NSM + WMIH is not dilutive and the PE will be the same as NSM's or lower and the forward PE is only 5 or half NSM's.
