BOREALIS, just because Trump sees journalists as "the enemy of the people" when obviously in any democratic country they are not doesn't mean they are not. Just because NYT publisher A.G. Sulzberger is obviously an intelligent, reasonable and rational man, that doesn't mean that President Drumpf should be seen as a relative dimwit, even though his tweets say he obviously is.

Apparently Michael Cohen recorded dozens of interviews with journalists about candidate Donald Trump, and President-elect Donald Trump, and President Donald Trump.
Michael Cohen hated the Trump campaign; he made his opinion of the campaign abundantly clear. The media hate anything Trump etc. Now imagine what's on those recordings....
The journalists did not know they were being recorded.

So President Trump and Rudy Giuliani have at least a dozen (or so) recordings of journalists discussing their opinions of, and intentions toward, their coverage of Donald Trump. ??
Conversations that thoroughly expose the MSM intentions toward the content of their coverage.... that the journalists never knew were being recorded.
NYT's Sulzberger had to know Trump would lie about what was said at their meeting - which, btw, was agreed by both parties to be off the record until Trump violated that agreement... Making a deal with Trump is like making a deal with a traffic light agreeing to always be green! (with thanks to NYT comment section).
