what are the barriers to entry (by competitors)..?

Not technologically minded, but couldn't one simply have something that can only have INPUT and not allow OUTPUT..

meaning you can upload the player but not download from it.

What stops that from happening....the downloading?

d&b-I understand that, but I was unaware that the mOS provided its own form of security. I was under the impression that it supported various encryption systems...but Atul's statement makes it appear that e.Digital has developed their own encryption technology. If true, I was not aware of this...
