You’re not going to get accepted into a top university on merit alone
The question still remains "Why not?". The smartest kids get penalized for what? It just does not make sense to me. I was reading about how medical schools are also into diversity and have lower standards for some ethnic groups. Isn't that a bit risky? I also read some time ago about diversity programs affecting the hiring of Air Traffic Controllers. Do you really want less qualified and capable people given a job like that?
I think I made my case for the end of this kind of stuff. After 64 years of giving some a chance to catch up, it is time we all, including colleges, start getting back to giving those that have worked to achieve the highest scores their due. The real discrimination is now in the form of reverse discrimination.
Your stats on the Asian group is startling. That is so unfair it is maddening. Why are they being punished after dedicating themselves to being as educated as possible?
It is like so many other ideas that have been implemented. They affect the common man only. Do you think rich white folk worry about if their children will attend the better schools? But they soothe their own conscience by putting a burden on the other kids that fight to go to a more prominent college after busting their ass in hope of getting accepted by one of them. Only to be told, well, we have to let someone else have your spot because you are the wrong color. Sorry!! That is real discrimination.
