The people you're talking about are fleeing violence and asking for asylum as is their right under law. You're conflating them with criminals and all I hear is a recycling of the basic "criminal jew" argument.
I also remember that Anne Frank was denied asylum here, as were the people on the MS St Louis... so spare me the "honest discussion" routine. Behind the rhetoric people are being murdered in large numbers and all you can think of is to bar the door and turn away.
