Actually, the newspaper editors were very fortunate Lincoln did not have them shot for treason --

Bush would have been well within his constitutional powers to have the editors of the NYT jailed for the damage they did to the security programs they unlawfully disclosed in a time of war.

Had he done so, likely we would be having a landslide for the repubs on 11/07/06
