I also wasn't aware that we were still going to need to obtain approvals along the way..i thought it would be a case of someone having to come up with a reason to cause us to stop....requiring approval to be rescinded rather than just not given..

I believe they are mere technicalities....

The news was meant for Vietnamese public consumption. It is a communist country. The Vietnamese Government still needs to create the perception that they are in control of cutting edge GMO projects in protection of the people. This area of Vietnam is old school, almost third world, imo.

Kim is not going to drop $2.2 million without a clear path to the holy grail if he hits the negotiated milestones with the local residents, local government, provincial government and national government.

Our Vietnamese partners have the silk in their hands. They are the experts. They asked us to help them revive their (provincial) silk industry. Quang Nam has GREAT silk history. They have outstanding natural resources.

My post is elementary and shallow but I understand the depth and importance of this announcement in the Quang Nam provincial press.

IMO Lam Dong is much more corrupt, has local opposition, and the Chinese and Japanese are fighting for influence there.
