lol. You're probably right. You're also right about what the limitation is on your current systems -- it ain't CPU -- its memory (and memory speed). I have no trouble running pitchat and a browser for trading on my 1996 laptop with 32MB RAM. But Quote.com Live Charts ..... I run out of memory.

Let's see ... back around 1982/1983, a friend of mine asked if he should buy a computer for his business. He wanted to keep a customer database. I asked him how many customers he had. He said about 100. I said buy a filing cabinet.

I used to joke that computers were just a fad. Since I'm in the computer business, that used to raise some people's eyebrows. But I asked them ... now that PCs have been around for 10 years (this was back in the eraly 1990s), are you spending more time at the office or less ?

If computers are such a fantastic invention, why aren't we working 20-30 hours per week ?

I spent AT LEAST 15 years of my career working 50 - 60.

FWIW -- I bought some BALT and IPIX.

Not very much.

They seem to be holding up ... for now.

Other than that, my only hold right now is MONI -- 4000 shares right now.I'm still thinking EMC should be a good trader, even though I'm kind of surprised at its narrow trading range ($22 - $23).
