Veno - Some block of real estate to be part of: Microsoft, Honeywell, Niveous, Embedded, Exceptional. We have some good neighbors who just might be good partners via the remote by the time of the show. Maybe Bill will come by to demo again just for Bulls - LOL. Good work and will miss your salient input if you go back to hibernation. GLTY/GLTA

Veno,
I've pursued your suggestion re the upcoming show in Long Beach 11/15-11/17. The only day available for me to take off from work is the first day, 11-15. (One of my traders is taking off on the 16th for a Thanksgiving trip home....blah, blah, blah).
In any event...not being a techie, do you feel day one might be a good day to attend? I think so...but thought I'd defer to you. I'd like to scout around, perhaps listen to a keynote or two and spend a little time at the Onev and surrounding booth(s). Do they let the public take pics and/or record conversations at these events? I'll be the deer in the headlights on this one, but I'd like to make the day as productive as possible re my posture as free cronkite, the reporter...lol.
Seriously, I'd actually like to produce a candid, educational and useful report for the board(s). Any color most appreciated as this is unchartered territory for me, though I'm quite excited about the prospect.

I will be going to the show, and with a home automation
and electronics professor. Thursday at my electronics class
i asked the class if they were aware of the show nov15-17 and voila the prof said, oh yes, i have a few passes to the show, and i volunteered to go with him and a few other techs
who are in the industry, in my class. We then ventured over to the new home automation set up from an integrator on the east coast who is supplying the Los Angeles trade colleges
the equipement for the instruction and theory behind the automation boom that is beginning to come to fruition.
I am the only student in this class that is not in the electronics, computer, home automation, or related industries.
Most of the people have taken the beginning home theatre and automation classes being offered and then decided to learn the electronics theory after starting at the top and working backwards (go figure).
The prof has been in the recording industry, dolby labs, and other areas of electronics and is one of six instructors in the L.A. area qualified to teach HOME AUTOMATION.

I mentioned the vocal command remote control devices that may be forthcoming and the 20 people in my class were truely
SHOCKED
that this could be possible, so it will be quite interesting
to have a bunch of old/young techies beginning to get into this area in an area of rich affluent home theatre buffs.

I have visited a few people over the past 8 years who have installed Theatres in their large homes, seperate outbuildings of theatre content and third floors combining theatre and sound studio technology, to a tune of $250,000
for one of these people 5 years ago.

I mentioned vista and many in the class knew of its "capabilities" but had no idea of the v.r. that will be
coming soon.

i'll report back, after i kick dean in the butt for taking so long to get anything going, i have voiced my
disgust for their to date situations and lied about time lines, so i'm pretty much persona non grata in the onev
offices.
