CJ - you can ask however I'm not sure that my answer helps...
I have problems using indicators to predict things, so I use very basic TA.
What I mostly do is try to think mathematically, like "how to measure the significance of a trend? " in a situation where two stocks are showing a weekly up move of say 3%. Then, which one is best to put your money on?. One that is 3% up 4% of the time or another with 3% 65% of the time ? then I work on that problem...
In this case I'm using the program that tells me what is the direction of the trend unambiguously (red line) and what is the strength of that trend (%) and what direction has that strength, increasing? decreasing?, reaching extreme historical levels? (the green and red areas, you can see the extreme I was talking about)
