AMLN (and Januvia/Galvus/Byetta)
The Reuters poll is alarming for AMLN investors, of which I am one. That's a pretty high number of doctors who already feel they will prescribe Galvus or Januvia over Byetta. As an AMLN investor, by biggest concern is the fact that these are orals vs. Byetta injection. I'm not diabetic, but I have to believe that if given the choice, most diabetics would take a daily oral vs. even once-a-week injection (Byetta LAR). Byetta helps reduce weight, which Januvia and Galvus do not, if I'm not mistaken. That would certainly sway some users to prefer Byetta, but how many is the question?
After never selling any AMLN from my original purchase in 1999, I sold 20% after LAR concerns became too strong to ignore. I will strongly consider selling another 20% now, probably holding the rest for potential IN Byetta and Pramlintide for weight loss approval.
Best regards,
Geoff
