Besides the usual SPIC, Fidelity also has seperate insurance that they purchase annually from private carriers.
This is really a non-issue though because you and I both know that insurance isn't worth a damn if the whole house of cards comes down. It just makes me sleep better knowing that the US Government could no more let Fidelity fail than it could Citigroup. Could the same be said for Scottrade? I really don't know.
I must say that I was shocked that the Fed went to such extremes to bail out LTCM. Be honest. Had you heard of them before their trouble? I hadn't. Impressive precedent though, huh?
