Hycroft has been spending almost a million a month on vendor disbursements. They are probably trying to confirm the oxidation of sulphides using trona. That being said the mine is probably closer to producing economically than half the gdxj.
The company did testing on column leaching after trona was shown to be a promising low cost sulphide oxidizer in studies conducted using oxgyen without pressure or heat. The company doing the testing -Hazen research -is also working on the mother lode deposit owned by Corvus. Bother the mother lode and hycroft ore bodies sulphide deposits differ from the Carlin trend in the sulphide has a lower mineralization. The lower sulphide mineralization allows them to oxides it without using pressure or heat saving on costs.
Usually low sulphide epithermals are deeper where hycroft is relatively shallow. They got some huge veins and who knows how big the deposit can be if they dig way deep. I'm skeptical if they can leach sulphide with just trona and no milling or oxgyen but if the studies show they can the costs saved more than make up for the low grade. Another positive for economics is the location of the countries biggest trona deposit being right across the border.
